Cycle Scotland and Scottish Cycle Safaris were established in the summer of 1995 to offer cycling tours and adventures into the most interesting parts of Scotland.

Scotland has such a wealth of quiet roads and tracks that traverse some of the most spectacular scenery. Many of these routes are ancient pathways which allow us to discover the hidden Scotland, rich in history, folklore and sacred sites.

This is the real Scotland that many tour companies simply pass by.

Cycling is the ideal means by which to explore this rich and varied landscape. Cycle Scotland aims to encourage an eco-friendly way of discovering our wonderful country with minimal impact on the natural environment.

When Peter opened his bike shop in 1995 the prime objective was to rent quality bikes in the centre of Edinburgh's Old Town, to enable visitors to explore, escape and enjoy the city and countryside.

Peter's prodigious knowledge of the backroads of Scotland's Highlands and Islands soon became apparent to the many cyclists who asked for his assistance in planning their bike tours. It didn't take long for Peter's reputation as an imaginative and inspired tour planner to spread widely.

Now biking enthusiasts from all over the world come to us to plan routes and itineraries prior to their Scottish cycling vacation. This is how Scottish Cycle Safaris was born.

Bicycles can be rented from our main shop in Blackfriars Street (off the Royal Mile), near the Radisson Blu Hotel in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town.

Every year we sell off our fleet of rental bikes and renew our stock.

Our aim is to provide a friendly, efficient service and to encourage eco-tourism.
