West Coast Wilderness
Scotland is perhaps Europe's last remaining true wilderness, offering the traveller an experience of unforgettable quality and stunning visual impressions. Cycling provides the ideal means for exploring and silently breathing in all that these soulful and strangely intimate open spaces have to offer.
The rugged and beautiful coastline yields a wealth of memorable images as well as sustaining diverse species of flora and fauna, many of which are unique to this region.
The Highlands and Islands of the West Coast have some of the most spectacular and deserted beaches to be found anywhere, with clear blue water stretching out to the horizon. Dolphins and sometimes even whales can be seen in these quiet waters.
The Islands we visit are a paradise for cyclists, with virtually traffic free roads, and the ever present vista of unforgetable landscapes.
The Four Day Tour is mainly focused on the Wester-Ross and Torridon regions, both celebrated for their classic Highland terrain and wild beauty. We cycle through dramatic mountainous scenery passing only the occasional habitation in this remote and untouched part of the country.
For those continuing on our Seven Day Tour we explore the Western Isles, particularly Harris and Lewis, renowned for their deserted sandy beaches, clear blue waters, rugged landscape and traditional way of life. These islands contain many sites of archaeological interest, including the remarkable Callanish Stones, dating from 4000 BC. These standing stones are the best preserved and most unusual combination to be found in Scotland.
